Parenting challenges arise for a number of reasons, and as parents we often blame ourselves. The powerful love we have for our children and the intensity of parenting can stir up a lot of emotions, including self-doubt, anxiety, irritation, confusion, worry, rage, and grief. In order to bring our best to our children, we need to attend to these feelings. This can include processing some of our own experiences of being parented.
My approach to parent coaching draws strongly on the Circle of Security model of parent-child attachment, my perspective as an IFS practitioner, and 15 years of working with parents and their children. I am trained in several parent education curriculums, including Collaborative Problem Solving, Nurturing Parent, The Incredible Years, and Strengthening Families. I am also a parent myself.
